When To Sweep Chimneys?

Both the Solid Fuel Association and the Guild of Master Chimney Sweeps recommend:

• chimneys used for burning smokeless fuel should be swept at least once a year
• chimneys burning domestic bituminous coal at least twice a year chimney sweeping
• chimneys burning wood should be swept quarterly when in use

It is worth checking with your household insurance what frequency they expect to honour cover
