What to do in a gas emergency

Gas leak
In the event of a leak in your tank or cylinders:
- Call our emergency number
- Turn off all gas-powered appliances
- Turn off the gas supply at the tank/cylinder's service valve – as long as it is safe to do so
- If the leak is inside your home, turn the emergency valve off, which will be situated outside your property
- Open all windows and doors

Gas supply failure
If your gas supply has failed:
- Check the content gauge
- If the gas shows as empty, call our office to re-order, or place your order online
- If the valve shows some gas, turn off the appliances and call us. We will send an engineer to reset the pressure shut-off

Fire
In the unlikely event of a fire:
- Call the emergency services and tell them you have LPG onsite
- Turn off all gas-powered appliances
- Turn off the gas supply if it is safe to do so
- Leave your property and walk upwind
Gas emergency prevention and safety tips
You can guard against emergencies and minimise risks by following these tips:
Store fuels safely – for example, gas cylinders can be housed in a gas bottle storage cage – and away from heat sources or open flames.
Keep fuel storage areas
well-ventilated and safe from unauthorised access.
Do not store large quantities of
fuel indoors.
Make sure your fuel-burning appliances are serviced regularly.
Install carbon monoxide detectors in all areas where fuel is used or stored.
Ensure any chimneys and flues are regularly cleaned and inspected.
