Sustainability
Keeping you warm, sustainably
Our commitment to sustainability was integral to our business from the very beginning of Four Seasons Fuel. Jez Harris started selling firewood alongside his landscaping business to avoid wasting leftover wood, and our efforts continue to this day. Our offices are built with reclaimed materials, including old shipping containers and an assortment of items we’ve rescued along the way and kept around the yard to reuse.

All our firewood is sourced from sustainable woodland, forestry and coppicing schemes, to ensure that wood supplies are maintained responsibly. All the wood you receive from us is seasoned or kiln-dried, to give you cleaner, more efficient burning.
Our LPG gas is of the highest quality and efficiency, and we invest in and promote cleaner alternatives to standard mains gas. We’re fully accredited and experts in the safe storage of gas and gas containers, too. And in in 2023, we had solar panels installed on our farm buildings to power our office and offset our carbon usage.

Our Solar-Powered Farm
Our business uses a lot of heavy machinery and our energy demands are high. But we’re always looking for ways to make our business practices more sustainable. So, in 2023, we had 264 solar panels installed at our farm in Coneyhurst: 48 on our office building, and 216 on the roof of our warehouse.
These high-efficiency panels were selected especially to maximise energy production. Able to generate up to 180kwh per day, the solar panels have reduced our energy costs significantly, enhanced our energy independence, and boosted the sustainability of our business.
